IMG Academy has potentially found its next quarterback: Artur Sitkowski.

Sitkowski, listed as the No. 4 pro-style quarterback in the Class of 2018 by the 247Composite rankings, announced his intention to transfer from Old Bridge (Matawan, N.J.) to the Brandenton, Fla.-based IMG.

He told USA TODAY High School Sports that he plans to enroll in January.

“I am excited for the new opportunity and ready to get to work,” he wrote on Twitter, while thanking his former school, coaches and teammates.

Sitkowski follows Kellen Mond, a Texas A&M early enrollee who led the Ascenders to an 11-0 record and the No. 2 ranking in the final Super 25 this season.

“The biggest benefit (to IMG) is to get coached up by the best coaches in the country and compete against the best talent every day and to get better physically and mentally,” he said.

Sitkowski, who is 6-4 and 215 pounds, threw for more than 1,200 yards as a junior at Old Bridge. He has 20 reported college offers and has received offers from Stanford, Duke and Syracuse this month.

Martin finished with 10 points as Sierra Canyon had six players in double figures led by Marvin Bagley’s 24. Cody Riley had 14 and Adam Seiko had 13. Martin, Terrance McBride and Michael Feinberg had 10 each.

Sierra Canyon meets Gongaza (Washington, D.C.) in the semifinals on Thursday. Gonzaga advanced with a 91-70 victory against Jefferson (Portland).

VIDEO: Sunnyslope (Ariz.) banks in 70-footer at buzzer for win

In what might go down as the play of the boys basketball season, Phoenix Sunnyslope guard Jaran Whitfield took an inbounds pass under his basket, took a couple of dribbles and let loose.

He banked in a 70-footer that gave Sunnyslope a 39-38 victory over King’s School of Seattle on Wednesday in the Visit Mesa Basketball Challenge at Mesa Mountain View.

Corey Kispert’s shot gave King a 38-36 lead with time about to run out.

Without a timeout, Sunnyslope got the ball quickly to Whitfield.

“I saw the clock running down and in my head I thought if I took a couple of dribbles and let it fly, it would have a shot, and luckily it went down,” Whitefield said.

His father, Marty, went to Twitter to give credit to Jaran’s mom for being to hit a shot like that to win the game.

Afterward, teammates mobbed Whitfield on the court.

“It just felt so surreal,” he said. “I couldn’t believe that the shot went down.”

Chino Hills' Andre Ball jumps over Shareef O'Neal, Onyeka Okongwu to win dunk contest

It takes a lot to beat Arizona signee Ira Lee in a dunk contest, so Andre Ball of Chino Hills (Calif.) did a lot.

Ball, the cousin of Lonzo, LaMelo, and LiAngelo, had several impressive dunks in the above video—as did Lee—but leaping over Shareef O’Neal (6-7) and Onyeka Okongwu (6-9) brought the house down at the Rancho Mirage (Calif.) Holiday Invitational dunk contest.

No. 6 Chino Hills is 14-0 after a 108-93 win against Woodcreek (Roseville, Calif.)—the Huskies’ 45th consecutive victory—and will face Pleasant Grove (Utah) in Thursday’s final.

Va. little league complex vandalized with swastika, 'white power'

Police in Henrico (Va.) are investigating vandalism at the Tuckahoe Little League complex.

The vandalism could be reported as a hate crime because of the language and pictures on the building, including “White Power,” a swastika, and messages about immigrants.

“It would be premature for me to assume that,” said Lt. Chris Garrett, the public information officer for Henrico police. “If it rose to that nature, we would investigate it that way.”

There also is graffiti and damage inside the bathrooms, including broken sinks and mirrors.

Garrett said the damage was found by a Park and Recreation employee this morning. The county owns the facility.

Messages left for the little league and the parks and recreation department have not yet been returned.

Georgia commit Isaiah Wilson is manhandling guys at Under Armour practices

Georgia commit Isaiah Wilson is 6-8 and 350 pounds so he’s going to stand out no matter where he is. But he’s been standing out on the field during the first two days of practice at the Under Armour All-America Game.

Wilson, ranked as the No. 7 offensive tackle in the Class of 2017 and No. 32 player overall by the 247Sports Composite, has been manhandling players in one-on-one drills and drawing raves from recruiting analysts and others.

Georgia will lost three offensive linemen – Tyler Catalina, Brandon Kublanow and Greg Pyke – after this season and filling those holes has been a key recruiting focus. The Bulldogs have five offensive line commits thus far, with three ranked among the top 100 players overall.

That has increased the buzz that Wilson — from Poly Prep (Brooklyn, N.Y.) — could be an impact player from Day One.

During the first half of Virginia Tech’ game against Arkansas in the Belk Bowl, the Hokies lost one of their quarterback commit in the Class of 2017.

Malik Willis from Roswell (Ga.) announced on Twitter that he was decommitting to “briefly take a step back and make sure I’m making the right decision for my future.”

Willis also made clear that his decision had nothing to do with the fact that Virginia Tech was trailing in the Belk Bowl at the time of his announcement. The potential for Willis to decommit had been rumored in recent days.

Willis, who is 6-2 and 180 pounds, had 13 reported offers. He threw for more than 2,500 yards with 27 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He also ran for more than 1,000 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Roswell finished 14-1 and ranked No. 13 in the final Super 25 rankings after losing in the state AAAAAA title game.

Virginia Tech also has a commitment from the No. 11-ranked dual-threat quarterback, Hendon Hooker, from Dudley (Greensboro, N.C.).

New Texas coach Tom Herman has added another recruit to his first class with the Longhorns.

Tight end Reese Leitao from Jenks (Okla.) announced his commitment on Thursday night via Twitter. He had taken an official visit to Austin on Dec. 9, days after he was offered.

Laito, the son of DePaul basketball coach Dave Leitao, decommitted from Nebraska on Dec. 18.

Leitao, 6-4 and 235 pounds, had 22 reported offers.

Leitao is ranked as the No. 35 tight end, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.

He is the 12th commitment in the Texas class, with six of them coming since Herman was hired. That includes flipping a number of players — running back Daniel Young (from Houston), tight end Cade Brewer (SMU) and guard Derek Kerstetter (Oklahoma State). Texas also got a commitment from four-star running back Toneil Carter, who had been a Georgia commit.

Davis Mills, nation's top QB recruit, to miss Army All-American Bowl

0

Davis Mills, the nation’s top quarterback recruit, will not play in next week’s U.S. Army All-American Bowl for precautionary reasons following a knee injury in the Georgia AAA state title game.

Mills, a Stanford commit from Greater Atlanta Christian School, was injured on the second possession of the game against Cedar Grove on a 29-yard run. As he went to make a cut, the knee buckled awkwardly and he watched the rest of the game from the sideline.

“Right when I went down I didn’t know what was going on,” Mills told GwinnettPrepSports.com. “Just felt a little uneasy. I wanted to get back out and play but they just said, ‘Stay off it for now.’ I wish I could have finished the state championship — win or lose — with my team just being out there and playing with everybody and finishing the season with teammates, especially the seniors. Just making a memory. It was a little upsetting.”

It is the same knee that required surgery during the season. Mills suffered a fluke injury in August and missed only three weeks, although the injury was initially thought to be more severe.

Mills threw for 2,732 yards with 34 touchdowns and only one interception in 12 games. He also posted eight rushing touchdowns and 332 yards on the ground.

The Army Bowl is Jan. 7 in San Antonio and will be broadcast on NBC.

Michael Porter Jr., Marvin Bagley III to face off in Les Schwab Invitational final

Two of the nation’s best players will meet in Friday night’s Les Schwab Invitational final in Oregon.

Marvin Bagley III, the top-ranked junior in the country, will lead No. 2 Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, Calif.) against Washington signee Michael Porter Jr. and No. 13 Nathan Hale (Seattle).

Porter is considered by some to be the No. 1 senior in the nation. Count his coach, former NBA star Brandon Roy, among those who see Porter as the nation’s best.

“He’s probably the best player in America,” Roy told The Oregonian. “I just tell him, ‘Mike, you set the tone for us.’ I don’t tell him that just in this tournament. It’s every game, he has to set the tone. He sets our defense, he sets our offense, and when he brings it defensively, we’re a much better team. When he’s attacking offensively, we’re a much better team.”

Nathan Hale, who defeated Garfield (Seattle) 87-64 in the semifinal, will get its toughest test of the season in Sierra Canyon.

The Trailblazers had some trouble with Gonzaga College Prep (Washington D.C.) in the semis, winning 85-81 behind UCLA signee Cody Riley’s 32 points. Bagley finished with 30.
