Dream game? Bishop Gorman, IMG players say they want to match up

Brendan Radley-Hiles has a unique perspective on what might be a dream matchup between Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) and IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.), the teams that finished 1-2 in the Super 25.

Radley-Hiles played at Bishop Gorman as a sophomore and transferred back home to Southern California where he played last season for Calabasas. On Dec. 30, he announced that he was transferring to IMG Academy for his senior season.

On Saturday night on Twitter, Radley-Hiles said IMG wants to play at Bishop Gorman in Week 3.

This came after Gorman QB Dorian Thompson noted that Gorman was looking for a national game for that weekend, although it is unclear if the schools have a mutual opening there or would consider a game on another date.

Note that no games have been announced as contracts and TV arrangements are worked out, but it makes for great offseason fodder.

And so Thompson-Robinson responded:

Whether the game actually happens only time will tell. But it makes for some fun speculation.

“I was treated like family when I was hanging with the players,” he told USA TODAY High School Sports. “They treated me like one of their own. I only been with the guys two days and I feel like I knew them all my life.

“I was really comfortable with the coaching staff. They are all a great group of guys.”

He is ranked as the No. 18 player regardless of position and his ratings have been moving upward.

Fredd-Jackson is a three-star offensive guard who is 6-4 and 300 pounds and had 13 offers.

J.P Moorman, Greensboro Day (N.C.)

The Temple-bound forward had 26 points and seven rebounds in a loss to Neumann-Goretti. He shot 8-for-13 from the field, including 3-for-4 from three-point range.

Akot is in his second season at Wasatch and has continued to gain recruiting attention. He has seven reported offers, including Louisville, Arizona and Oregon.

The UConn signee almost had a triple-double with nine points, 10 assists and nine rebounds in a 70-67 victory against Montverde Academy’s post-graduate team. He only took six shots, making four.

A four-star recruit, he moved to Brewster Academy for his final year of prep basketball after playing at Cushing Academy in Massachusetts.

UConn head coach Kevin Ollie and two assistants were among the interested observers in the stands.

Eric Ayala, Putnam Science Academy (Putnam, Conn.)

With the departure of Hamidou Diallo for Kentucky, Ayala is being asked to take on more of a leadership role.

In an 81-79 victory against Vermont Academy, he had 20 points, six rebounds and five assists.

Ayala is a member of the Class of 2018, but told ZagsBlog.com after the game that he was considering reclassifying to the Class of 2017. He said he would not make a decision until after the season.

Simi Shittu, Vermont Academy (Saxtons River, Vt.)

Shittu, ranked as the No. 8 player in the ESPN rankings for the Class of 2018, is in his first year at Vermont Academy after transferring from Montverde Academy (Fla.).

The 6-9 Shittu, from Burlington, Ontario, posted 21 points, eight rebounds, four assists, two blocks and three steals against Brewster Academy.

Florida State lands Under Armour All-American long-snapper

Under Armour All-American long-snapper Grant Glennon has committed to Florida State, he announced Sunday on Twitter.

Glennon, who is 6-2 and 210 pounds, won’t have to travel far because he attended Lincoln in Tallahassee, Fla.

He is ranked as the No. 4 long snapper by Kohl’s Kicking, which was involved in selecting the specialists for the Under Armour game.

He had offers from Florida State, South Florida and Central Florida among others but chose Florida State after he met with coach Jimbo Fisher on Saturday. He initially had a greyshirt offer but the Seminoles coaches then offered him a scholarship, he told Noles247.com.

Florida State also landed a commitment from three-star defensive end Tre Lawson.

The North Augusta (S.C.) prospect chose FSU over Louisville, Ole Miss, and Tennessee. Lawson was previously committed to Tennessee but backed off his commitment on December 13th.

Lawson was expected to take an official visit to Louisville this weekend, Ole Miss next weekend, and then FSU on the final weekend before signing day. He bumped up his official visit to Tallahassee, and committed while on the visit.

He also holds offers from South Carolina, Clemson, Georgia, Kentucky, USC, Oregon, Mississippi State, Illinois, and South Florida.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Five players who stood out Sunday at the 2017 Spalding Hoophall Classic in Springfield, Mass.

Remy Martin, Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, Calif.)

As good as Marvin Bagley III and Cody Riley were, Martin had 18 points, 13 assists and eight rebounds in a victory against top-ranked La Lumiere (La Porte, Ind.).

Martin is a 5-11 point guard signee at Arizona State.

David Singleton, Bishop Montgomery (Torrance, Calif.)

Montverde Academy made life difficult for Bishop Montgomery’s scorers with the load shared among Singleton’s 20, San Diego State commit Jordan Schakel’s 20 and Oregon State commit Ethan Thompson’s 19 points.

Singleton is a 6-4 junior shooting guard who is continuing to draw recruiting attention.

Jordan Walker, The Patrick School (Hillside, N.J.)

Walker finished with nearly a triple-double of 15 points, 11 assists, nine rebounds and four steals in Patrick’s double-overtime victory against Pace Academy (Atlanta).

The 5-9 guard had six of his points in the two extra periods after almost winning the game at the buzzer in regulation. He was called for an offensive foul when he hit a three.

Walker told ESPN that he considers himself a 2017 recruit but he could go to prep school and come out in 2018.

Andrew Nembhard, Montverde Academy (Montverde, Fla.)

The Canadian celebrated his birthday with 22 points, two rebounds and two assists in a victory against Bishop Montgomery (Torrance, Calif.).  Nembhard shot perfect from two-point range and added a pair of three-point shots.

Coach Kevin Boyle said that Nembhard has gotten “really good at those quick, Steve Nash-like layups”

A Class of 2019 point guard, he is ranked as No. 2 at his position and No. 16 overall by the 247Sports Composite rankings.

Lindell Wigginton, Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va.)

It was hard for anyone to star on the court while Michael Porter Jr. from Nathan Hale was having the biggest game of the day, but Wigginton had 22 points, three assists and three rebounds.

An Iowa State signee, Wigginton is ranked as the No. 12 point guard and No. 47 player overall, according to the 247Sports Composite.

Oak Hill guard Matt Coleman, who committed to Texas on Monday, described his teammate as a “dawg,” adding that he and possibly Wigginton should have been McDonald’s All Americans.

Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, Calif.) has logged a lot of miles in the last week and gotten a lot of television time at the Bass Pro Tournament of Champions on CBS Sports Network and the Spalding Hoophall Classic on ESPNU.

As expected, much of the coverage focused on Marvin Bagley III, the top-ranked basketball player in the Class of 2018. Bagley’s younger brother Marcus is a freshman small forward.

Their younger brother, Martray, is 7. And adorable.

Martray has been on the team bench and attracted the attention of the cameras, as seen in the image above from the T of C trophy presentation and the ones below from pregame warmups at the T of C and the MVP presentation at Hoophall.

During the postgame interview with Marvin on Monday, ESPN’s Jeff Goodman asked Marvin what he needed to work on. “Everything,” Marvin replied. “I have to get better at everything.”

Said Goodman, “Your little brother says you need to work on your shot.”

Marvin smiled, as only a big brother can.
