Donovan Gregory, a 6-4 small forward in the Class of 2019, capped Team Charlotte’s victory at the Under Armour Association on Saturday with a poster dunk.

The dunk, which comes at the 4-minute mark in the video below, drew a technical foul. Gregory and the defender had previously gotten entangled earlier in the game.

Among those on hand to watch was Lamar Odom, which was on the Team Charlotte bench and seemed to approve of the dunk.

N.H. pitcher's no-hit streak ends at four consecutive games but he's dominant anyway

Brennen Oxford, from Oyster River (Durham, N.H.), has entered the record book as one of the few high school pitchers to throw four consecutive no-hitters.

The junior Wake Forest commit’s bid for a fifth ended early Saturday when he allowed an opposite field single to left on the game’s third pitch after he had the hitter in an 0-2 count.

The hit was by Brian Lindsey, a former AAU teammate and Oxford’s catcher for four years in youth ball.

Oxford shook off the hit easily and then pitched a three-hitter that took an hour and 19 minutes. He struck out 12 and walked two in a 6-1 victory againt Kingswood Regional.

“It wasn’t really a disappointment,” Oxford told Fosters.com. “I looked at it as kind of an upside because I didn’t have to worry about trying to pitch perfectly throughout the whole game. I could just relax and throw strikes and do what I do.”

At the plate, he was 3-for-3 with two doubles, three runs scored and three runs batted in.

Oyster River will move to the playoffs and host a first-round game Thursday.

Yes, this was a low goal. Yes, this was just a pickup game. But yes, that is LeBron James Jr. aka Bronny.

Bronny is 12, but reports say he’s already at least generated interest from Duke and Ohio State. Bronny also has been lighting things up in various events, including with his Blue Chips team at the Dru Joyce Shooting Stars Classic and the John Lucas all-star weekend.

Needless to say, the young kid in the neighborhood didn’t stand much of a chance in this one.

Nahziah Carter scored six points Sunday for The City Rocks at the Nike EYBL, but he also had one of the highlight plays of the day.

Carter — whose name has gained attention because he’s Jay Z’s nephew — jammed over Marvin Bagley III, the No. 1 player in the Class of 2018, to the oohs and aaahs of the crowd.

The Rocks beat Nike Phamily 66-56. Bagley had 20 points and 15 rebounds.

Carter, from Bishop Kearney (Rochester, N.Y.) could reclassify to 2017, although he has not made a final decision. A former Dayton commit for Archie Miller, Carter recently received an offer from Miller at Indiana. He also is being pursued by Georgetown, he told ZagsBlog.com.

Jay Z was in the crowd to watch his nephew Saturday.

It’s been an interesting weekend for Big Ballers — the AAU team coached by LaVar Ball — at the MagicMemorial Day Festival in Orange, Calif.

In a game that seemed destined to be a blowout given the depth of the host Compton Magic, the Ballers lost 109-57 and a few Magic players had some things to say to Ball on the sideline.

In Sunday’s early game, Big Ballers beat Bluechip Nation of Arizona, 88-85, and Ball was more reserved.

In the nightcap Sunday, the star of the show was LaMelo Ball, who scored 50 points and posted a marquee performance after struggling during the earlier games and being roasted by a mixtape showing him taking ill-advised shots.

The end result, though, was a loss in the closing seconds, 94-90, to the California-based Bobcats program in the 17U Battlezone bracket.

LaMelo, of course, is noted for scoring 92 points in a high school game for Chino Hills.

Here are the highlights from BallIsLife.com of his 50-point effort:

Ramsey (N.J.) coach Chris Caserta boasted after his team won the Bergen County softball championship that he was thinking of taking the trophy for a one-man parade down Main Street in town.

His players did better. They had a team-only parade with their trophies — right down Main Street.

Ramsey came from behind to beat Immaculate Conception, 13-4, to claim the school’s first softball county title since 1994.

“This was a gauntlet and they lived up to it,” Caserta told Gannett partner NorthJersey.com. “This was a tough bracket and they showed up today and I so proud of them. I can’t tell you how proud I am of them. They’re winners and I love them.”

Kamryn Babb, ranked as the No. 1 wide receiver in the class of 2018 by Top 247, announced his top nine schools on Twitter on Monday.

Babb, from Christian Brothers College High (St. Louis), lists LSU, Alabama, Ole Miss, Ohio State, USC, Missouri, Michigan, Nebraska and Notre Dame.

Ohio State is considered the favorite for the Army All-American, but there is plenty of time for him to make a decision.

He is ranked as the No. 1 player in Missouri by the 247Sports Composite, but 247 is higher on him than another services. He averages out to No. 41 overall in the class regardless of position; Top 247 has him at No. 18.

His announcement coincided with his mother’s birthday.

Journey Brown’s high school athletic career at Meadville (Pa.) will forever be known for the 722 yards and 10 touchdowns in a September 2015 game. The rushing yards rank second all-time in high school football.

But he capped it off with another special performance this weekend at the PIAA state meet in Pennsylvania.

Brown, who is heading to Penn State to play football, won the 3A 100 meters in 10.43 seconds to repeat as champion but his time bested the meet record of 10.44, set by Leroy Burrell for Penn Wood in 1985. Burrell, of course, would twice hold the world record in the 100, including 9.85 in 1994.

Brown’s time was initially listed as 10.44 but a review of the photo at the finish line led to another hundredth being trimmed.

“Football’s my sport,” Brown told PennLive.com. “But if they want to let me to do football and track then I’ll do football and track.”

The new No. 1 is the former No. 2 — Notre Dame de Sion (Kansas City). But in order to lock up the top spot, Notre Dame de Sion has to win its own state title.

Notre Dame de Sion, the two-time defending Class 3 champions, plays Washington in the state semifinals Friday.

Notre Dame de Sion moves up after a 1-0 loss by previous No. 1 Battlefield (Haymarket, Va.) in the Virginia 6A regional quarterfinals. Battlefield, the three-time defending state champions, fell to Madison to snap a 25-game winning streak. Battlefield is No. 21 this week.

Barrington (Ill.) moved up a spot to No. 2 and plays Hononegah (Rockton) on Tuesday in the 3A Super Sectionals.

Miles Godwin (Richmond, Va.) makes a huge leap from No. 21 to No. 3 and remains alie in the state playoffs.

Colorado 5A state champion Mountain Vista (Highlands Ranch) moves up from No. 10 to No. 5.

Ayala High (Calif.) girls soccer coaches killed in head-on collision

The head coach and an assistant for the Ayala High (Chino Hills, Calif.) were killed in a Memorial Day car accident, according to multiple reports.

Head coach Matt Hodges, 30, and assistant Gabby Constante, 21, were traveling home from a trip to a lake in Parker, Ariz., with Melissa Garnica, 20, and Jessica Gilardo, 21, officials said. All four were killed.

Hodges and Constate coached at Ayala and for the Legends Football Club. According to the San Bernardino Sun, Constante, Garnica and Giraldo were teammates and 2014 graduates of Vista Murrieta. Hodges finished up his fourth season and Ayala and Constante finished her second.

According to the California Highway Patrol, as reported by KABC, Hodges was driving a 2012 Toyota Corolla on Highway 177 and veered into oncoming traffic and collided head on with a big rig. The driver of the big rig was not injured.

A cause of the crash is still being investigated.

“Matt loved his players with all his heart,” Chino Hills coach Andy Plascencia told the San Bernardino Sun. “Matt and Gaby would both spend hours talking about their players. It was evident that both just wanted their players to be successful. I know both would want their players to know that they loved every moment they spent with them and that they must continue the love that Gaby and Matt showed. Their legacy will forever be one of love.”

Students held a private vigil Tuesday. Graduation at Ayala is Wednesday.

Penn State QB commit Justin Fields is on the rise; how high can he go?

With the Elite 11 Finals scheduled for this weekend in the Los Angeles area, no one has more momentum than Penn State commit Justin Fields.

Fields, a dual-threat quarterback from Harrison (Kennesaw, Ga.), has had the best spring of virtually any player, especially among the quarterbacks.

The results can be seen in his rise in the national recruiting rankings announced this week.

Fields is now ranked as the No. 2 player overall in the Class of 2018 and the No. 1 dual-threat quarterback.

The No. 1 player in the class is Trevor Lawrence, a pro-style quarterback from Cartersville (Ga.) who has been No. 1 since the Class of 2018 was first ranked nearly two years ago.

Both Lawrence and Fields will be in the Elite 11 Finals, along with Matt Corral, a USC commit from Long Beach Poly.

“If Lawrence is the old-school prototype of the tall, strong-armed pocket passer, Fields is the next-gen future,” 247Sports national recruiting director Barton Simmons wrote. “He’s 6-foot-3, 220 pounds with strength, physicality and legit 4.5 speed. He’s accurate and strong-armed but has the ability to extend plays but the smarts to play within the scheme. The kid has Ivy League credentials with a 3.9 GPA and a score of 29 on the ACT.”

Fields added the coveted fifth star from Rivals.com and moved up 99 spots to No. 8 overall.

“It is hard to find a more exciting player in this class,” Rivals Southeast recruiting analyst Chad Simmons wrote. “Yes, Lawrence is a special talent, but the way Fields can throw, the way he can run and the way he can make plays, it makes many think of Cam Newton. Fields has a live arm, he has really improved as a passer and his legs make him scary.”

With the rankings by Rivals and 247Sports, Fields is now No. 6 overall in the composite rankings, up 14 spots from previously.

Fields committed to Penn State in December, but the suitors continue, with Florida, Florida State, Auburn and in-state Georgia among those in pursuit.

The Penn State coaches continue to check in with Fields as he received visits from Nittany Lions coaches twice during the month of May.

We are going to work the next five days, and get ready for Argentina and put together a strong team that plays together, plays hard, plays smart and represents the United States the way it should be. And, hopefully make our country proud.

The team will remain in Colorado Springs through June 4 for training camp.

Eight players graduate high school in 2019, three in 2020 and one, Azzi Fudd graduates in 2021.

Samantha Brunelle, ranked as the No. 1 player in the Class of 2018, returns to USA Basketball after playing on the team that won bronze at the U17 World Championships last summer.

Here is the roster:

Fran Belibi, F, 2019, Regis Jesuit (Centennial, Colo.)

Top 5 guard Ayo Dosunmu uses hashtag #ImComing, and he's arrived on national scene

Ayo Dosunmu’s Twitter bio includes the hashtag #ImComing.

“It’s the branding of me as a basketball player on a mission,” he told USA TODAY High School Sports. “It means I’m coming into my greatness. It means I want to prove my doubters wrong.

“I want every basketball player to believe in themselves. To know that if they put the work in they can be great.”

Dosunmu — pronounced Dough-sue-moo — has come into his own playing for the Mac Irvin Fire in the Nike EYBL.

Ranked as the No. 3 shooting guard in the Class of 2018 by the 247Sports Composite – he says most schools are recruiting him as a point guard – Dosunmu is No. 4 in scoring in the EYBL through the regular season. In 16 games during the four stops, he has averaged 23.2 points.

R.J. Barrett, the top-ranked player in the Class of 2019, leads the EYBL at 28 points per game, followed by Marvin Bagley III, the top-ranked player in the Class of 2018, at 25.8. Bol Bol, son of the former NBA star, is third at 241.

Dosunmi, ranked No. 26 overall and the top player in Illinois, is also averaging 3.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists for the Fire, despite the team’s struggles. He is shooting nearly 48 percent from the field, although that total is hampered by a low percentage from three-point range.

Dosunmi said part of his success in EYBL has been being more comfortable this season with the competition at 17U after moving between 16U and 17U last season.

“I always play the game to win and at the highest level,” he said. “No matter who the opponent I truly believe no player can guard me one on one. Competing in EYBL has allowed me to compete against the best, it has allowed me to showcase my talents as an elite player.”

Along with his performance has come recognition, both inside his native Chicago and beyond.

Dosunmu was part of Morgan Park’s state championship team and he 19 reported offers, with Wake Forest as the most recent. He’s taken visits to schools near home such as Northwestern, Illinois and Xavier and plans to take more once the next season starts.

“My parents have taught me that recognition only comes when you perform at the highest level,” he said. “If you perform at the highest level, you will receive recognition.”

Beyond an eventual college decision, Donsunmu said his goals were to “crack the top 10 of the national rankings” with Morgan Park and make the McDonald’s All America Game.

“Positioning myself for such an honor (as the McDonald’s All America Game) is truly on my lists of accomplishments,” he said.

As for what he is working on as he looks ahead to helping Morgan Park repeat, he said:

“Of course, my jumper. I am mastering attacking the basket going downhill, so I will continue working on my midrange game and continue to get bigger and stronger, which will allow me to play above the rim.”
