The Opening Regional came to the Chicago area on Saturday and four more players earned invitations to the Finals in Oregon in July, although none from the state of Illinois.
- Amir Riep, a defensive back from Colerain in Cincinnati, is ranked as the No. 14 cornerback in the nation and No. 132 overall, according to Scout.com.
- Jaylen Kelly-Powell, a defensive back from Cass Tech in Detroit, is ranked as the No. 27 safety by Scout. He took part last weekend in Columbus and did not get an invitation to the Finals so he returned.
- Joshua Ross, a linebacker from St. Mary’s Prep in Orchard Lakes, Mich., is ranked as the No. 10 ILB in the nation. He is committed to Michigan.
- Trey Smith, an offensive lineman from the University School of Jackson, Tenn., is ranked as the No. 7 OT in the nation and No. 42 overall.
