Pat Freiermuth, a four-star tight end in the class of 2018 from the Brooks School (North Andover, Mass.), committed Tuesday to Penn State.
Freiermuth held offers from the likes of Duke, Syracuse, and Maryland, while Notre Dame and Michigan also showed interest.
“They said that I was a very versatile tight end and I fit into their plans perfectly with the scheme that they’re running now,” Freiermuth told 247Sports.com. “I can go on the ball, I can split off and everything they do I fit well.”
Though early, Penn State currently has one of the top classes in the nation for 2018. Micah Parsons, a five-star defensive end in the class, committed to the Nittany Lions in February.
