Donovan Peoples-Jones and Donovan Johnson, teammates at Cass Tech (Detroit) received their honorary jerseys for the U.S. Army All-American Bowl at halftime of a game against rival King (Detroit) on Saturday.
The event as part of the Selection Tour presented by American Family Insurance happened on the field.
The Army All-American Bowl is Jan. 7 in San Antonio and will be broadcast on NBC.
Peoples-Jones, the No. 1 wide receiver in the Class of 2017, gained 83 yards on slant route and caught two passes for 98 yards in the 31-18 victory. As always, he was the focus of the defense and he had another Army All-American, Ambry Thomas, on him for most of the game.
That helped open the door on offense for Johnson, who had a 69-yard TD run and an 82-yard touchdown reception. But Johnson was selected to the Army Bowl for his defense as a cornerback.
Getting your Army Bowl jersey, handily beating your rival in the biggest regular-season game on the schedule and playing a role in the victory. Seems like a good day for the two Cass stars.
