Cam Akers of No. 23 Clinton (Miss.) has been voted the Super 25 Top Star for games of Dec. 2-3 by readers of USA TODAY High School Sports.
All Akers — a five-star recruit — did was end his remarkable high school career with a storybook finish that included 217 rushing yards, five touchdowns on the ground, 228 passing yards and two throwing touchdowns and the 6A state title in a 49-35 win against Pearl. It was Clinton’s first state championship; the Arrows finished 14-1.
“This was,” Akers said, “the perfect ending.”
