Defending Super 25 national champion Chino Hills (Calif.) won its 41st consecutive game with an 84-70 victory against Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) on Friday at the American Family Insurance Hoophall West in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Chino Hills, ranked No. 9 in the Super 25, went 35-0 last season and is off to a 6-0 start thus far.
Gorman trimmed the lead to seven at one point in the second half and then got the advantage back to 10 at several stages in the final three minutes but were not able to come back.
LiAngelo Ball finished with 30 points, Elizjah Scott had 20 points and 14 rebounds and LaMelo Ball had 19 points and seven assists for Chino Hills, which was held to less than 100 points for only the second time this season. Last year’s team tied the state record with 100 games of 100 points or more.
Jamal Bey finished with 30 points to lead the Gaels on 12 of 21 shooting from the field.
Gorman, which had been ranked No. 20 before falling out of the rankings this week, played without Charles O’Bannon, who is sidelined with a foot injury. He is ranked as the No. 9 shooting guard in the Class of 2017 by the 247Sports Composite rankings.
