Four-star wide receiver Diondre Overton committed to Clemson during the Fox Sports 1 broadcast of the Semper Fidelis All-American Game on Sunday night in Carson, Calif.
Overton, from Page in Greensboro, N.C., is ranked as the No. 4 overall player in the state, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. He also is ranked among the top 30 receivers in the nation.
“I just feel like Clemson will give me a better shot at the next level,” he said, surrounded by family who made the trip to California. “I feel like they have developed wide receivers in the past.”
He thanked his family and “all the people who are important to me,” before making the announcement.
The 6-5 Overton had four hats on the table but was expected to decide between Clemson and North Carolina State, which got an official visit in early December.
Page posted 1,251 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns as a senior.
