Carlmont (Belmont, Calif.) softball coach Jim Liggett added another milestone to his legendary 41-year career: 1,000 victories.
Calrmont defeated Capuchino 3-0 to give Liggett the mark in front of a crowd of former players and supporters.
“I think it’s unbelievable the people who came out,” Liggett told the San Jose Mercury News. “I’m very impressed. There were people here I hadn’t seen in years.”
Liggett’s players donned T-shirts after the win marking their coach’s accomplishment. Liggett, 75, is retiring after this season.
Asked how he would celebrate, Liggettt told the Mercury News: “Go home, sit in my La-Z-Boy chair and watch some TV.”
