Imhotep Charter (Philadelphia) football coach Albie Crosby has resigned after leading the school to a 15-0 record, the PIAA Class AAA title and a No. 10 final ranking in the Super 25.
“I’m going through some personal things,” Crosby told philly.com. “I had been burning the candle at both ends. And, health-wise, I want to focus on getting in better shape.”
Crosby posted a 53-6 record in four years at Imhotep, capped by leading the first Public League school to win a state football title, and produced 20 Division I recruits.
The school said it will begin an immediate search for his replacement. Assistant Mark Schmidt, a previous head coach at Neshaminy and La Salle High, will serve as interim coach during the search, the school said.
