COACH OF THE YEAR
Jim Shannon, New Albany
In his 32nd year as high school basketball coach (18 at New Albany), Shannon reached his first state championship game and was rewarded with a victory – a 62-59 title-clinching triumph over McCutcheon in the Class 4A state final. He has overseen 496 wins in his coaching career, including 331 for the Bulldogs.

Player of the Year
Kyle Guy, G, Lawrence Central (Indianapolis), 6-3/150, Sr.
The state’s Gatorade Boys Basketball Player of the Year, Guy powered Lawrence Central to the Class 4A sectional final with averages of 23.5 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game. The Mr. Basketball finalist and future Virginia Cavalier represented Indiana at the 2016 McDonald’s All-American Game last month.
C.J. Walker, G, Arsenal Tech (Indianapolis), 6-0/150, Sr.
The Florida State signee led the Titans to the first round of the Class 4A state tournament, averaging 24.5 points, 5.3 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game.
Damien Jefferson, G, East Chicago Central, 6-4/185, Sr.
A New Mexico recruit, Jefferson helped East Chicago Central to its first Class 4A sectional championship since 2008, pouring in 26.1 points and grabbing 8.1 rebounds per contest.
Joey Brunk, C, Southport (Indianapolis), 6-foot-10/240, Sr.
An Indiana Mr. Basketball finalist and a Butler signee, Brunk led Southport to its first Class 4A regional title in a quarter century, averaging 18.3 points and 8.2 rebounds per game.
Desmond Bane, F, Seton Catholic (Richmond), 6-5, 180, Sr.
Bane’s gaudy production (30 points, 11.5 rebounds per game) helped Seton Catholic to a 23-4 record and the first round of the Class 1A regional semifinals.
