Nick Gerber of Levelland (Texas) threw six touchdown passes to set the state single-season record with 73, and he’s still going.
In a shootout, Levelland beat Decatur 82-73 — the third time that Levelland has posted more than 70 points in a game. It is now 2-1 in those situations.
The state record of 71 was set by Shelton Eppler of Navasota in 2014. Travis Quintanilla of Refugio threw for 68 touchdowns in 2013. Gerber passed both of them Friday.
Gerber had 459 yards passing in the victory.
The Lobos (9-3) faces Andrews next week. Andrews won 77-76 in overtime in the meeting earlier this season.
