No. 4 DeSoto (Texas) scored 27 unanswered points, including 19 in the second half, to down Southlake Carroll, 48-30, in a 6A Division II area round game Friday.
TCU quarterback commit Shawn Robinson was again the star for the Eagles with 245 yards passing and a touchdown and 209 yards rushing and three scores.
Colorado commit KD Nixon caught 11 passes for 163 yards and a 34-yard touchdown reception with 4 seconds left in the second quarter that gave DeSoto the lead for good.
Richie Washington score on a 2-yard run with 3:53 left in the third quarter as DeSoto started to exert its dominance. Jamonne Williams then ran for a 17-yard score with 11:54 left in the game. Robinson scored on a 17-yard TD run less than two minutes later for a 48-23 lead.
Carroll added a TD in the final seconds on a 23-yard TD reception by Jackson Davis from Will Bowers.
The teams traded scores in a second quarter that featured 39 combined points.
A pair of DeSoto touchdowns gave the Eagles a 21-16 lead with 3:06 remaining in the half, but Carroll answered on a 61-yard TD pass from Mason Holmes to Jackson Davis to take a 23-21 advantage.
That set the stage for Nixon’s late TD to close the half.
In all, DeSoto posted 621 total yards, including 376 yards on the ground.
DeSoto advances to the Region I semifinal against Abilene in Wichita Falls on Nov. 25.
