IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) and Trinity (Louisville, Ky.) rocketed into the Top 10 of the latest Super 25 Computer football rankings.

IMG defeated Grayson (Loganville, Ga.) 26-7 in a nationally televised game and moves to No. 6.

Trinity downed Brentwood Academy (Tenn.) 35-21 to move to 2-0 and jumped from No. 24 to No. 10.

St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.), coming off a 34-0 win against St. Xavier (Cincinnati), retains the top spot it held in the preseason. De La Salle (Concord, Calif.) and Centennial (Corona, Calif.) remain Nos. 2 and 3.

Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas), which beat highly regarded Cedar Hill (Texas) 44-14, is No. 4. Santa Ana (Mater Dei, Calif.) has moved up a few spots to No. 5 after a lopsided 63-14 victory against Bishop Amat (La Puente, Calif.).

After IMG at No. 6, DeMatha (Hyattsville, Md.) is No. 7, followed by Colerain (Cincinnati), St. Edward (Lakewood, Ohio) and Trinity.

Another riser, according to the computer, is Westlake (Austin, Texas,), which knocked off defending state champion Katy (Texas), which had been No. 4.

Westlake begins the second 10, followed by Gilman (Baltimore), Wayne (Huber Heights, Ohio), Mission Viejo (Calif.), Loyola Academy (Wilmete, Ill.), Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, N.J.), Starkville (Miss.), Allen (Texas), Mill Creek (Hoschton, Ga.) and La Salle (Cincinnati).

The Super 25 Computer rankings are provided by Ken Massey. Because some of the data is based on past performances, the computer will be more accurate as the season progresses. Generally, once a team plays three games, the computer can better slot how it stacks up against teams nationally. The ratings are designed to reward teams for their performance, and objectively quantify those performances. Strength of schedule is built into the model. The model also corrects for home field advantage. Teams lose less for a loss on the road and gain more for a win on the road. Margin of victory is also factored in.

Cooper Mays, an offensive lineman in the class of 2020, received a scholarship offer recently from Tennessee.

The offer from the Vols is not terribly surprising. Cooper is the younger brother of Cade Mays, a five-star offensive lineman in the class of 2018 and UT commit.

Both Cooper and Cade are the son of Kevin Mays, an all-SEC performer for Tennessee in 1994.

Below is a look at the Knoxville Catholic freshman in action.

USA TODAY High School Sports is publishing a series called “The Class of 17”, highlighting 17 members of the Class of 2017 whom we will be watching in the coming year. The athletes were selected by the USA TODAY HSS staff.

Below are 12 additional athletes who just missed the initial list of 17 but are no less deserving. Players are listed in alphabetical order.

Andi Aldave, girls lacrosse, McDonough School (Owings Mills, Md.)

Aldave is a skilled, tough and dynamic player who helped the Eagles again dominate this season.

An ALL-USA first-team choice, she contributed 43 goals, 34 assists but also provided a strong presence on defense for McDonough, which was named the No. 1 team in the final Super 25 rankings and has won 155 consecutive games.

Aldave, a midfielder who is committed to Notre Dame, put up five points in the IAAM “A” Conference title game.

Meghan Beaubien, Softball, St. Mary Catholic Central (Monroe, Mich.)

It’s hard to beat perfect. Beaubien threw back-to-back perfect games in the state semifinals and state final to lead St. Mary Catholic to its second consecutive state Division 3 title. She struck out 13 of the 15 batters she faced in semifinal in a game shortened to five innings by the mercy rule and then fanned 15 in the state final.

A Michigan commit and American Family Insurance ALL-USA first-team pick as a junior, Beaubien averaged better than two strikeouts per inning with a whopping 394 in 187 innings. With only 16 walks allowed, she had a ridiculous 24.6:1 strikeout-to-walk ratio. She allowed just 10 earned runs for an ERA of 0.17 on the way to a 25-1 record.

She also hit .485 at the plate.

Mia Davidson, Softball, Orange (Hillsborough, N.C.)

She is among the most feared sluggers in the nation with a 2.060 slugging percentage, a batting average of .740 and an .851 on-base percentage. Her OPS was an unheard-of 2.911.

A three-time all-state selection and a member of the ALL-USA Softball Team, she hit 18 home runs this season and needs just three to take the top spot on North Carolina’s career list.

A Mississippi State commit, she drove in 49 runs and scored 57. She walked 44 times, most of the intentional variety.

Yianni Diakomihalis, wrestling, Hilton (N.Y.)

After winning the Super 32 in North Carolina to start his junior year at 132 pounds, Diakomihalis moved up to 138 and didn’t miss a beat.

The Cornell-bound wrestler took home his fourth Division 1 state championship and is now poised to become the second New York wrestler to win five career state titles.

He has won a 199 consecutive matches sanctioned by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association, a state record. He won all 53 of his matches as a junior to put his high school record at 232-3.

“I have to keep improving things, even if normal people can’t see those, sharpen old moves that I know,’’ Diakomihalis says. “I try to be dominant, control my matches, in every position.

“I need to look at every situation where I lose control and think about why that happened, so next time I get in that situation I can be more dominant.’’

He also won the 138.9-pound weight class during the United World Wrestling Cadet Freestyle Nationals in June with the world cadet championships set for next month in Tbilisi, Georgia.

The 6-2 Geist hurled the shot put 74 feet, 3.5 inches at the Class AAA state meet this past season to shatter the Pennsylvania state record. Geist also won the discus with a throw of 183 feet.

His season-best effort of 74-4.5 in the shot put ranked as the nation’s No. 1 performance among prep competitors in 2016 at the time of his selection. It also placed him sixth in U.S. high school history.

Selected to the ALL-USA First Team and named Gatorade state track and field athlete of the year, Geist won silver in the shot put at the New Balance Nationals Outdoor (73-2.75).

Lilley tallied 746 assists, 213 digs, 200 kills and 61 blocks to lead Blue Valley West to the Kansas Class 6A state title despite playing out of position for much of the season.

Along the way, she was named to the 6A all-state first team and 6A state all-tournament National Junior of the Year.

The 5-11 Lilley, who is a Kentucky commit, earned a spot on the 2016 USA Volleyball Junior National Training Team as a setter.

The 5-7 midfielder is the ultimate playmaker on a River Bluff team that won the South Carolina Class 4A state title in the school’s third year of existence. He had 25 assists on the season.

Malpartida, heading to the College of Charleston, scored one goal on the season, the lone tally in a 1-0 win against previously unbeaten Wando (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) in the state quarterfinals.

Casey Mittelstadt, boys ice hockey, Eden Prairie, Minn.

The ALL-USA Boys Ice Hockey Player of the Year as a junior, Mittelstadt had 22 goals and 37 assists in 25 regular-season games but really made an impression in the postseason. A center, he notched 21 points in six postseason games, an amazing average of 3.5 points per contest. Mittelstadt registered a point in all 31 games he played.

As one of the youngest players on the U.S. Under-18 National Team last summer, Mittelstadt tied for the tournament lead in points (three goals, four assists) at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial in the Czech Republic. He then led the Upper Midwest Elite League in scoring in the fall with 15 goals and 32 assists in 32 games.

Mittlestadt will play for the Green Bay Gamblers in the USHL before the high school season, then return to Eden Prairie, and rejoin the Gamblers after Eden Prairie’s season ends.

Kate Murphy (Photo: Kirby Lee, USA TODAY Sports)

Kate Murphy, girls track and field, Lake Braddock (Burke, Va.)

A returnee to the ALL-USA Girls Track and Field teams, Murphy posted times of 4:07.21 in the 1,500 meters, 4.39.71 in the indoor mile and 9:10.51 in the 3,000 this season. Her time in the 1,500 was the best by a high schooler in the nation this year.

Murphy won the 1,500 at the Pan Am Junior Games in the summer of 2015 (4:21.36) and set the prep mile indoor record at the Millrose Games in February of 4:41.84. Her time in the 1,500 of 4:071.21 at the Adidas Dream meet was her personal best and qualified her for the Olympic Trials, where he reached the semifinals.

She also won the USATF National Junior 3,000 title by a second, ahead of Katie Rainsberger, as the pair moved into second and third on the all-time high school list — behind the 41-year-old national record of 9:08.6.

Murphy has twice been selected to the ALL-USA Girls Track first team.

Shore repeated as the the Tennessee Class A/AA state champion, after rallying to force a playoff.

The Alabama commit also won the Bobby Chapman Junior Invitational in Spartanburg, S.C., in September and the Jones Cup Junior Invitational in Sea Island, Ga., in December.

When he wasn’t winning, Shore was always around the top of the leaderboard throughout the season. He secured top-five finishes at The Junior Players Championship and The Junior Invitational at Sage Valley while adding Top 20s at the Thunderbird International and the Polo Junior Golf Classic.

He also qualified for the U.S. Junior Amateur for the third consecutive year.

Andy Trippi, boys lacrosse, Bullis School (Bethesda, Md.)

Trippi exploded for a 56-goal, 48-assist season to help lead Bullis to a 21-2 record and to claim its first IAC conference championship. Bullis became the first team in a decade to go unbeaten in the IAC regular season and postseason, and Trippi was a big reason why.

The North Carolina-bound lefty has high-end athleticism and plays calm under pressure, able to use his vision and quickness to make plays through double teams and slides.

Trippi was one of two juniors named to the ALL-USA first team last spring.

Jericho Sims only needed one recruiting visit to determine where he was going.

Sims, a 6-9 forward ranked No. 48 by Scout.com, committed to Texas late Monday night, days after returning from a visit to Austin.

“I just feel like I fit in the most there and not just with the players, but the coaches and the assistant coaches,” Sims told Scout.

“I feel like they recruit everyone differently based on who they are. I just found that out and I thought that was unique. I feel like they relate to me the most.”

Sims from Cristo Rey Jesuit in Minneapolis also had been considering the hometown Gophers, among others. His father, Charles, played for Minnesota with Flip Saunders and Mychal Thompson in the 1970s. His old brother, Dominique, is a former Gophers football player.

Texas now has a pair of Top 100 players in their recruiting class as Sims joins four-star Royce Hamm from Aldine Davis in Houston.

Ranney School (Tinton Falls, N.J.) star Scottie Lewis has been a fixture on the recruiting scene for a while now, which is most impressive considering he’s just beginning his sophomore year.

Lewis, a five-star wing, is back with yet another highlight video, this one courtesy of CourtsideFilms.com:

As evidenced by the above video, Lewis has an array of skills, including the ability to block shots, despite being just 6-5.

“When I first started playing I wasn’t very good, but I was tall and long,” Lewis told USA TODAY High School Sports in May. “My coach would always say, ‘Scottie you at least have to block shots.’ I’ve always been really good at that. It became a habit.

“It’s a timing thing for me. As my other skills have caught up I just kept that one. It’s been crazy ever since that YouTube highlight dropped my seventh-grade year.”

Lewis holds a host of offers from the likes of Florida, Villanova, Notre Dame, and others.

San Antonio high schools honor memory of late football player Josh Pollard

The Churchill (San Antonio) High community has been reeling since early August, when baseball and football player Josh Pollard died suddenly.

Last week, his teammates at Churchill began their season, but Pollard was not forgotten.

Both Churchill and Clark (San Antonio) High players wore a helmet decal with Pollard’s No. 12, and the teams observed a moment of silence before the game.

Clark had a banner for students to sign prior to the game:

And there were various tributes at the game, as well.

“Honestly, the first week to 10 days after Josh passed, that was the toughest part,” Churchill coach Ron Harris told MySanAntonio.com. “Once the funeral occurred, there was a big change in our guys’ attitudes. It was really business as usual. Yes, we had some emotional moments, but there wasn’t anything that was negative. We just channeled in and try to live like Josh.”

The Chargers, who beat Clark 33-14 in the game last week, came out onto the field waving a flag with Pollard’s number on it.

“He was a tremendous young man,” Harris said earlier this month. “As a coach, he was everything you wanted in a player in terms of a student and an athlete and a commitment to his teammates. He was one of those kinds of kids who was in a good mood and always had a smile on his face.”

The nation’s fourth-best running back according to 247Sports, Swift is Georgia’s 15th commitment in the class of 2017.

Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, N.J.) heads to South Florida for Friday night’s game against American Heritage (Plantation).

The game is the season opener for Don Bosco, ranked No. 21 in the Super 25. Heritage has played twice  — a preseason kickoff classic that it lost to Booker T. Washington (Miami) and does not count in the standings and a nationally televised victory against Colquitt County (Ga.), two-time defending state champions in Georgia. AH was ranked No. 6 in the Super 25 Preseason Rankings.

Among the intriguing matchups in this game is how Syracuse quarterback commit Tommy DeVito, ranked among the top 15 pro-style QB recruits in the nation, fares against Heritage’s star-studded secondary — Patrick Surtain Jr., Florida commit Marco Wilson, Will Allen and Tyson Campbell. The name Will Allen should be familiar to fans in New Jersey as his father of the same name was a first-round draft choice of the New York Giants in 2001.

According to Score Predictor, Bosco has the advantage.

We’ve told you about Jamon Kemp before, but he’s back with a new summer mixtape. The class of 2019 star out of Garfield (Seattle) High has some pretty familiar-looking moves.

The younger Kemp is a wiry 6-6, but, just a sophomore, has plenty of time to fill out his frame. But clearly, the athleticism is there.

Jamon still has a ways to go to live up to dad, who was a highlight reel during his time in the league.

If No. 3 IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) can get to California for the Honor Bowl and Saturday’s matchup against No. 14 Corona Centennial (Calif.), it should be a fun game.

Centennial poses a unique challenge. The Huskies have shown the ability to score on anybody. Last week, they made their way into the rankings with a 56-49 defeat of then-No. 22 Chandler (Ariz.), as quarterback Tanner McKee ran for four touchdowns and passed for 377 yards and two touchdowns. Over the past three seasons, Centennial has averaged 51 points a game with its hurry-up spread offense.

The Ascenders will likely try to use their dominant offensive line, which averages 6-5 and 325 pounds, to boost their running game and keep Centennial off the field. However, matching the Huskies (1-0) score-for-score isn’t easy.

Score Predictor projects a close one between the two teams. Score Predictor uses data from the Super 25 computer to compare two teams and plays multiple simulations to determine the most likely result.

Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) and Cocoa (Fla.) are both coming off nationally televised victories in the GEICO ESPN High School Kickoff.

Gorman, now ranked No. 1 in the Super 25, handled then-No. 5 Cedar Hill (Texas), 44-14 in a game that was more lopsided than many expected. Cocoa, behind the play of quarterback Bruce Judson Jr., downed Trinity Christian (Jacksonville) in overtime, stopping Trinity’s win streak that dated back to October 2014.

Now Cocoa heads to Las Vegas to face the Gaels, who have won 40 consecutive games.

The matchup between the quarterbacks should be interesting. Tate Martell is an Ohio State commit; Judson is a former Ohio State commit who has now committed to South Florida.

According to USA TODAY High School Sports’ score predictor, Gorman holds the edge.

No. 19 Mill Creek (Ga.) rolls over rival Dacula in Super 25 Game of the Week

Mill Creek (Hoschton, Ga.), ranked No. 19 in the Super 25, turned a 7-0 halftime lead into a 30-0 shutout Friday night against nearby rival Dacula in a matchup voted as the Super 25 Game of the Week by readers of USA TODAY High School Sports.

Much like last year when Mill Creek turned a close game into a 34-7 victory, it was able to turn things on in the second half.

After the teams combined for 81 rushing yards in the first half, Cameron Turley connected on a 50-yard TD pass to Edmond Graham for their second long touchdown of the night and defensive end Ayoola Ogun-Semore returned a fumble for a TD in the third quarter to give Mill Creek at 21-0 lead.

Turley and Graham connected for a 61-yard TD in the first quarter.

In addition to the win on the field, the rival schools had a contest to see which could bring in more donations for local food pantries. Mill Creek won there, too, with more than 40,000 cans.

Mill Creek has posted victory against Colquitt County, Stephenson and now Dacula for a 3-0 start to the season.
